Healthy Hips + Lumbar Spine in your Barre Class

Why do we tuck? Should we allow the pelvis to move when we twist? What is the role of the psoas
muscle? Why do my hips ‘pop?’ Join Elizabeth April in this two-hour workshop as we explore and
discover healthy positioning of the pelvis and in return healthy positioning of the lumbar spine as we
move through and/or teach our favorite barre classes.
As barre classes gain more popularity and regularity in people’s schedule, it is important to always be
rethinking how we approach alignment in class, to welcome longevity as a practitioner and trust as a
teacher.
Workshop will be part discussion and part movement. Open to barre teachers and all level
practitioners!

WILD Women Project

The WILD Woman Project

Every new moon, we have the opportunity to set an intention or wish for the moon cycle ahead. It is a seeding time, and more powerful than one might imagine. Join circle leader Danielle Gismondi, for The WILD Woman Project.

Here, we remember what it’s like to be a woman, untamed, in the company of others. Leave your masks and veils outside. Come just as you are, no questions asked. Inside, you are seen as you, and supported as a woman who feels deeply and intuitively. Based on the astrology of the new moon, we explore different themes of the divine feminine within a sacred container that we create together.

Every circle includes:
*community & time to share
*visualization
*creative ritual
*intention setting
(and of course, tea & chocolate)

Set on, or near the new moon every month, these circles create a container for women to come as they are, no questions asked. All who identify as women are welcome.

$10-$20 suggested donation for materials, but please come regardless of ability to pay. Income is no barrier here.
If your interest is peaked, you might be hearing the call. Feel free to contact Danielle directly at danielle.a.gismondi@gmail.com

Open Hips. Open Heart. Free Mind.

Yin Yoga. Restorative Yoga. Yoga Nidra. Live Drumming.

Are you ready to release old emotions, tension and negative energy? Do you want to free up space in your body and mind for whatever is coming next for you? During this candlelit two hour Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra workshop with live drumming, you will leave the external world behind as you sink into Yin Yoga poses specifically sequenced to open your hips and your heart. You will continue to journey inward by relaxing deeply into comfortable Restorative Yoga postures to release tension, while creating balance and ease in the body. We will be focusing on heart opening poses to invite more love and compassion in, as we release the tension in the upper back and hip openers to release stuck emotions. Can you imagine the tension melting away already? You will then drift off into bliss through Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra is a deep, guided meditation and visualization that opens your heart to call in your deepest desires. Yoga Nidra means "sleep with trace awareness". It often brings you to deep physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. Show yourself some love and care, while going inward and receiving the healing benefits of rest.

Please come 5-10 minutes early to prepare your body and mind for deep rest and deep nourishment. See you on your mat!

Cycling for Beginners

So you want to know what 'Spin Class' is all about?

Maybe you are looking for an indoor cardio activity to get you through this long, Maine winter ahead? Or a low-impact sport to keep you active without heavy strain on your body? Or, you've heard it's so much fun, you have to try?

This workshop will be 30 minutes of learning how to set-up our bikes, proper physical alignment, and why cycling is so amazing for our entire body. When we're ready, we will embark on a 30 minute beginner cycle ride, mastering all the positions and feeling the strength our body uses to get us up hills and through sprints. After the How's and the Why's, we'll enjoy a 20 minute deep stretch yoga practice to ensure we are properly stretched in our mind and body after our ride.

This workshop is for those who have never been on a bike AND for those who are interested in learning more about how to get stronger by riding their bike.

Workshop is limited to 10 people.

strengthening and connecting again with the muscles of the back, glutes, and hamstrings using typical
barre movements.

The Art of Verbal Queuing

For fellow barre teachers!

As classes become bigger, being able to speak specifically and clearly to an action can be imperative to
creating not only a safe class, but an effective and efficient class. Clear communication when teaching a
class can turn your class from good to great...verbal ques can guide your students to feel the work in the
muscle deeper and more profound.

Join Elizabeth April to discuss organizing your thoughts in class, how to speak specifically to the part of
the body you want to move, provide visualization for your students without them having to look at you,
and much more.

Workshop will be part discussion and part movement.

Waking from Winter: A Half-day Women's Yoga and Wellness Retreat with Skye Adams

"We all move forward when we realize how striking and resilient the women around us are." -Rupi Kaur

The end of February in Maine is often still bitterly cold and covered in drifts of snow, but with the first crocuses popping up and the sunshine warming, signs of spring begin to show. It is during these transitional, in-between times of the year when we may feel isolated, or restless and disorganized, and when it is most important to gather together to ground, tend to ourselves, and support each other. In the Celtic and pagan traditions, February marks Imbolc, the middle point between the solstice and the equinox, and the celebration of the goddess and fertility with fire, ritual, and feasting.

Join Skye Adams for a half-day (four hours) of delicious self-care as we gather as women to shed the bulky, lonely layers of winter and do some spring cleaning for our minds and bodies. The day will include:

  • two hour-long yoga sessions: a vigorous flow to stoke and stimulate our inner fire, and a yin and restorative sequence with optional bodywork to cleanse and restore our vitality
  • optional quiet time in the infrared sauna to detoxify, relax, and improve circulation and immune function
  • making abhyanga (Ayurvedic self-massage) massage oil concoctions and learning self-massage techniques (you'll make a bottle with your choice of carrier and essential oils to bring home!)
  • group discussion and suggestions for the creation of simple ways to incorporate self-care, or the idea of ritual as routine
  • a shared vegan meal
  • homemade detox tea available throughout the afternoon
  • free, unstructured time for reading, tea, rest, connecting with other women, or journaling

Maggie O'Donnell, LMT, CMMT, of East West Therapeutic Arts and Willow Wolf Apothecary will be offering gentle bodywork during the restorative yoga class as well as her signature wellness blends and salves.

Early-bird price: $65 before January 25!

Regular price: $75

Reserve your spot soon to take advantage of early-bird pricing, or give the gift of self-care and community to a special woman in your life!

Embracing our Feminine Light

This 3 hour workshop will begin with an hour of relaxing, candlelit Yoga Nidra lead by Becky Payne. It will help release the stress of your week and open your body and mind to receive the healing energy of the divine feminine. Yoga Nidra is a deep, guided meditation and visualization that opens your heart to call in your deepest desires, allowing you to confidently shine your feminine light. Yoga Nidra means "sleep with trace awareness". It often brings you to deep physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. Show yourself some love and care, while going inward and receiving the healing benefits of rest. One hour of Yoga Nidra is like three to four hours of sleep!

After Yoga Nidra we will gather for tea, some light snacks and reflection. You will also enjoy 10 minutes in an infrared sauna, which is a type of sauna that uses light to create heat, healing and deep relaxation.  We will then start to explore the wisdom that herbs can teach us.

Plants are magical tools that can help us tap into our feminine knowing. Through taste, smell and experience Katie Munn will lead you through meeting 4 herbal allies that will help you connect more deeply within yourself. They will show you what it means to be open, receptive, set proper boundaries yet let your love shine through. Once we are standing in our truth and light we are more able to deeply embrace our divine feminine. We open to receiving and relax into our true intuitive nature. Through working with the plants they will teach us this.

Through this experience of Yoga Nidra + meeting the plants our intention is you leave this class feeling relaxed, open and receptive to the world and all the gifts it has to offer you!

Aerial Yoga Nidra with Lily

Aerial Yoga Nidra with Lily

Join Lily for a blissful hour of relaxation.

Aerial Yoga offers authentic yoga, with the support of a soft, aerial fabric hammock — to explore, refine, and advance traditional asana, both in the air and on the ground. Supportive aerial hammocks enable the students to feel safe, relaxed and peaceful.

Yoga Nidra or yogic sleep is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. Enjoy the experience while being held, weightless in an aerial yoga swing. If you prefer, you may lay on a yoga mat on the floor. You will receive the same benefits. You will be guided into a state of deep relaxation where breathing and thoughts are slowed. It is not sleep as we think of it, but rather a conscious sleep in the threshold state between sleep and wakefulness. Because one hour of Yoga Nidra equals about four hours of typical sleep, mental clarity improves, energy increases, creativity & intuition will flourish and mood swings & emotional upsets are minimized. No previous experience needed!

The cost for this workshop is $25
